No service at OiC this Sunday, Sept. 6th

Hei OiC Family,
Important announcement:

We will not have a service at Bakkehaugen this Sunday, September 6th!

Due to logistical issues stemming from the beauty of sharing a church building, we are unable to have our service at Bakkehaugen this Sunday. We will post a Sunday reflection online on YouTube and on IGTV. This will go live on Sunday morning.

We encourage you to take some time on Sunday to watch the message, pray and spend some time in worship. You can do this alone, or together with another family.

If you would like to join in fellowship with others this Sunday, please join one our house churches! You can sign up for one with the following link.

Join a house church!

We will resume meeting at Bakkehaugen the following Sunday, September 13th.

As a closure for our Summer with the Psalms series, Jesse takes us on a journey with Psalm 23, giving light to a psalm we probably all hold dear.

We will post our upcoming Sunday reflection on this  YouTube Channel.

May the Grace and Peace of our Lord be with you.

Love from the OiC Team

OiC and COVID-19

Update May 22, 2020: We are now meeting again. Click here to learn more.

Dear OiC Family,
This is a time in which we are all called to do our best to help the authorities control the spread of COVID-19.  We especially want to keep in mind and in prayer the most vulnerable with whom these measures will protect.
Therefore, all Sunday Services and other OiC meetings, like growth groups, prayer meetings, etc, are cancelled until further notice.
We want to remain connected throughout this time, so we’ve put together several measures to do so:

OiC General Assembly

The whole year of 2019 has passed by and it’s time for us to meet again for our General Assembly. This is an opportunity to hear from the ministry teams, board and pastors as they share the highlights and challenges of 2019, as well as their plans and hopes for 2020. It is also when we get to review our budget for 2020, making sure that we are using our resources wisely and supporting our ministry teams as best we can. Finally, we want to provide some information concerning our process for moving from Bakkehaugen church to our new location later this spring.

  • Time: Saturday, January 25th, 10:00 to 14:00
  • Place: NMS office, Bernhard Getz’ gate 3
  • We will serve coffee and a light lunch.

We hope to see you there.

The OiC Board

Please note a few things about the next few weeks at OiC.

  • Sunday, the 15th of December (THIS SUNDAY) service is at 11:00, not 16:00!  The congregation we share the church with has a special evening service this Sunday, so we are taking their morning service time.
  • Sunday, the 22nd of December is our Christmas Service. It will be at our usual time, 16:00. There will be no Christmas service on the 24th or 25th.

Here for Christmas?

Are you here for Christmas?   You don’t need to celebrate it alone!  If you are here for Christmas and would like to celebrate it with someone –either being hosted or hosting– please let us know!  Living abroad is beautiful, challenging and sometimes lonely, and all of these feelings are often magnified during the holiday seasons. We at OiC would love to connect you with someone to celebrate with, to highlight the beautiful aspects of living abroad, to love each other and to see the Body of Christ in action.  You can respond to this email, or talk with Maicon on Sunday if you’d like to host or be hosted.  It’s a lovely time to get to know others in the church.

This Sunday, December 8, is our annual Advent Celebration at OiC.  We would love you to join us!

All of the events will take place at Bakkehaugen kirke.

Here’s the rundown for the day:

13:30 – Workshops
15:00 – Potluck (bring a dish to share)
16:30 – Service with OiC Kids performance
After the service – Church Coffee

The workshops will take place in various rooms around the church and include Christmas cookie baking, pom-pom creature making and candle rolling. For the potluck dinner, please bring a food item to share. This can be a special Christmas item from your home country, a favorite Norwegian dish, or anything else you please. The kids are really excited for their Christmas performance that will take place near the end of the regular service, so be sure to watch them! To finish our festive day, we will drink a bit of coffee and have some sweets in the dining area after the service.

Please join us!
